First, let me start by letting you know that the video itself is 34 minutes long. I was going to edit it, however, I talked throughout the whole video explaining what I was doing that I figured I'd keep it as is and you can fast forward through parts as you choose. I might do more detailed videos showing just how I put on my eyeshadow and just my blush, but I haven't decided all of that yet. I've managed to get my everyday makeup down to 10-15 minutes. It used to take me up to an hour doing all the highlights and contours, but figured that for everyday, I was to look pretty & natural and will save all the bells & whistles for special occasions. For me, makeup is about enhancing what I have and making me look like a better version of me. Everyone has different reasons for why they choose to wear makeup (or choose not to) and it isn't up to anything to tell them if those reasons are right or wrong. Okay, off my soapbox for now. I have found that my skin can be pretty temperamental, so I don't wear foundation everyday. Instead, I use argan oil and face powder. This helps to even out my skin tone, however, you might find that you need more coverage. I suggest using this video as a way of learning how you can supplement your routine and hopefully you'll find tips to help save some time when putting on your makeup. While I am not trying to endorse anyone's makeup brand or brushes, having a good set is key to helping up your makeup game as well as making application faster and easier. Some brushes I like are Ecotools and Prestige. They can be found in major drugstores, are affordable and feel soft. Above are the eye brushes that I use the most. From left to right: 1. Small brush for applying shadow directly to the lids. 2. Crease brush for the crease of the eyes. 3. A big and fluffy brush for applying highlight and blending. 4. A dense brush for applying concealer under the eyes. These are the brushes I use the most when applying makeup on my face. From left to right: 1. Blush brush - As you watch my video, you will see that I do not skimp on the blush. Getting a good blush brush is key. 2. Big face brush - This is great for applying your translucent, pressed, loose powders all over the face. 3. Fan brush - This brush is new to my kit so it isn't in the video, but I'm loving it for applying highlighter to the top of my cheek. This is an important step when going overboard with blush. 4 & 5 are Stippling brushes - I like these because they keep you from using too much powder. I use the Ecotools (L) to apply powder under my eyes and the e.l.f (R) brush for loose highlighter. Having a signature look helps you with your quick makeup application. You have perfected your face so now it becomes a routine and you know that you can quickly apply everything. Certain colors and powders become your usual suspects so you can keep them out to quickly grab. I love a nice pink blush. In case you haven't realized yet, I love blush. I truly believe it's the underdog of the makeup world. While most people highlight their eyes or lips, I prefer to make my cheeks the sun of my face and my eyes and lips are the constellations. Starting from the bottom left to right: 1. Face powder - true story, I thought this color looked great in the package and I imagined I'd have that straight from the beach look with it on. Once I applied, it was the same color of my face. I now use it as an all over face powder instead of foundation on a daily basis. 2. Banana powder - I like to use this to brighten under my eyes and tops of my cheeks. I do this as my 'contour' instead of using concealer like in many youtube videos. I save that for special occasions, but for daily wear, using powder gives me a natural glow. 3. BLUSH! The pinker the better. 4. Under eye loose powder - I tend to alternate between this loose translucent powder and the banana powder. Using both would cause too much creasing for me. I truly believe that my life changed for the better after learning about highlighting powder. Once I learned how to apply to my cheeks and face, I knew I always wanted to have highlighter on. You look like the light is always hitting you in the right places and the best is when people compliment you on your 'glowing' skin. Girl, that's just some highlighter! These are some of my favorite things from bottom left to right" 1. Loose highlighting powder in white - use this sparingly unless you want your cheeks to look like mirrors. 2. Highlighting powder in a shimmery pinky white. 3. Highly pigmented highlighter - I use this for traveling in place of the loose powder so I don't have to worry about loose powder possibly spilling. This is highly pigmented so a little goes a long way and use just as sparingly. 4. Baked highlighter - I added this because it's my latest acquisition but I'm still not sure if it's "highlighter" enough for me, but for those of you just starting out or only want a subtle glow, this might be for you. If the eyes are the windows of the soul, then eyeshadow is the curtains??? I am not the best when it comes to mixing colors and using pallets that already have the colors you need make life so much easier. Let the experts coordinate all of that, your life is already too complicated to figure out which color to apply to your crease, amirite? I am self-conscious about my dark circles and probably spend the most time hiding them and making sure there is as little creasing as possible. I use a color correcting concealer as well as a cream concealer on top. From bottom left to right: 1. Color correcting concealer - this isn't something you want to skimp on. Go to a counter and have them test different colors on you to see which works best. 2 & 3. Cream concealers - again, I wouldn't skimp here either. Some colors can make you look ashy or too pink, spend some time getting the color that closely matches your skin. 4 & 5. Eye shadow pallets - yes they are similar in color and they are different brands. One cost a good amount of money and the other was only a dollar at Ulta and I like them both. What I love most about makeup is that it helps me to look like a better version of me, or the me that I imagine in my head. Everyone has their own reasons to wear makeup and I think any reason you choose, as long as it's for you is the right one.
What do you think? Have you tried any of these techniques? Do you wear makeup? I wanna hear from you.
